MPs get $2 million for chik-V clean-up

Arising from an emergency meeting yesterday at Jamaica House, which was called by the prime minister, members of parliament and councillors, respectively, will be given funds to help chik-V clean-up.

MPs will receive $2 million for chikungunya clean-up activities within their constituencies while $600,000 will be given to councillors for clean-up in their divisions.

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller made the announcement during the meeting that was held yesterday afternoon.

Additionally, the prime minister disclosed that the money is to be dispensed immediately.

Our news team gathered that some MPs were, however, not satisfied with the amount allocated.
