Yasin Abu Bakr's son has taken to social media to voice his disapproval of the actions of Jamaican officials to deny the Muslim leader entry into Jamaica.

On his Facebook page Wednesday evening, Fuad Abu Bakr questioned how his 73-year-old father could be a threat to Jamaica's national security.

According to him, his father was travelling to Jamaica to visit his daughter, who is a medical student at the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies, and to be a guest at the commemoration of the Million Man March with Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan, to be held on Sunday at the National Arena.

No criminal conviction

He also said his father has travelled to more than 60 countries in the world, and does not have a criminal conviction, despite the political rhetoric.

Fuad Abu Bakr questioned whether his father's detention was political mischief or a regional immigration matter.

"Is this a regional immigration issue? Is this the mischievous work of politicians in T&T or Jamaica?" his post questioned.

Yasin Abu Bakr was reportedly travelling with one of his wives and his son.

He was brought back to Trinidad yesterday morning, after he reportedly left Jamaica at 3 a.m.
