Police raid leads to arrest, vehicle seizure

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Two men have been arrested by the Linstead police in St Catherine on suspicion of larceny of motor vehicle following a raid that resulted in the recovery of stolen motor vehicles and parts on Wednesday.

Reports are that at about 2:30 p.m. a team of police officers, acting on intelligence, went into the Rosemount community in the parish.

After travelling miles in the bushes, the team came upon what appears to be a chop shop. There the police found scrapped Motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts such as windscreens, bonnets, seats and other assorted parts for more than 50 vehicles.

Among the vehicles scrapped were a Toyota Prado and a Toyota Corolla. Both of these vehicles were partially scrapped.

The two men, who were at the premises, were taken into police custody and are to be questioned in the presence of their attorneys.

Their names have been withheld pending further investigations.

No estimate has been given on the value of the seized vehicles and parts.
