Alleged corrupt cops caught
Two policemen attached to the Portmore Police Station are scheduled to face the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on fraud charges today. Sergeant Orel Ayres and Constable Oscar Beckford were arrested on October 15 for reasonable suspicion of breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act and attempting to pervert the course of justice, according to the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA).

They were charged last Friday. It is being reported that the policemen reportedly solicited a sum of money from a serving member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, in order to dispose of an alleged case file which implicated him.

A report was subsequently made to the MOCA and following investigations, both men were arrested during a sting operation after the sum of money was collected.
