Fake UTILITY WORKERS
The Jamaica Constabulary Force is issuing a warning to members of the public to beware of individuals posing as National Water Commission (NWC) workers or persons employed to other utility companies.

The warning comes on the heels of reports received by the police that men are posing as workers employed to utility companies, in particular, the NWC. These individuals visit the homes of unsuspecting occupants and inform them that they have come to read meters or to install shower caps to reduce water waste.

Additionally, they pose as contractors of other utility companies and inform household occupants that they are there to replace high-energy consumption bulbs with energy-conservation bulbs for free.

However, once these men gain entry to premises, they commit robberies. They are believed to be operating especially in the Kingston 6 and 8 areas.

As a consequence, the police are advising members of the public, homeowners and occupants to be alert and on the look out for these individuals. Members of the public are also being advised to request to view the identification cards of those purporting to be employed to utility companies to confirm their identity before allowing them access to premises.

Persons may call 311, 811, Police 119 emergency or the nearest police station to make a report.
