Detectives from the Waterford Police Station are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man and injury of a woman in Portmore, St Catherine, last Monday.

The deceased man has been identified as 29-year-old Prince Smith of a Waterford, Portmore, St Catherine address.

The Waterford police report that, on October 20 at approximately 5:20 a.m., Smith and a female were boarding a route taxi at Portmore Mall when an armed man approached them, opening fire and hitting them both. They were taken to hospital where Smith was pronounced dead. The woman was treated and released.

No motive has yet been established for the attack. Investigations continue.
