Entertainer Demarco has been nominated for a Urban Music Award (UMA) in Europe.

The singjay has been nominated in the 'Best Reggae Act' category and will vie for the coveted title against fellow artistes Sean Paul, Mavado, Gyptian, Morgan Heritage, Popcaan and British sensation Stylo G.

"It's very gratifying to be recognised for your work and even more humbling when an international organisation such as the UMA gives you that nod of approval. It shows that you are doing something right," Demarco said in a release.

The nomination marks the second time Demarco is being recognised by a European entity for his work. The 12th annual staging of the prestigious award show takes place on Saturday, November 15, in London, England.

The Urban Music Awards is the number-one R&B, hip hop, Soul and dance-music awards ceremony in the world.

The showcase is held annually and was born out of the need to build a worldwide awards ceremony to recognise the achievements of urban-based artistes, producers, club nights, DJs, radio stations, record labels and artistes from the dance/R&B, hip hop, neo soul, jazz and dance-music scene.

Past winners at the Urban Music Awards have included Beyonce, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Nas, Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis, Adele, Goldie, Dizzee Rascal, Sean Paul, Beverley Knight, Lemar and Shakira.

Locally, amid gearing up for an assignment in Boston, USA, in November, Demarco is aggressively promoting his latest singles, Rise To The Top, Libra and Puppy Tail.
