Western Bureau: Arnett Gardens allowed a fifth minute Oniel Thompson goal to slip, as they fell 2-1 to Reno in yesterday's rescheduled Red Stripe Premier League match, at the Frome Sports Complex.

It was a cruel loss for head coach Jerome Waite, whose Arnett side entered the matchup third in the League table on 11 points. Reno moved from fifth to joint-third alongside yesterday's opponents in the standings.

It could have been a different story had Arnett held onto the lead, which they earned, after Thompson latched onto a right-sided free-kick and drove his shot low and out of the reach of Dennis Taylor, in the Reno goal, his second of the campaign.

That Reno conceded was no big surprise, they are only second to Boys' Town in the goals conceded category with 12, but hit man Craig Foster would pounce to level things up soon thereafter.

The Reno striker came agonisingly close to the equaliser in the 9th minute, when he beat the offside trap and also the advancing Damian Hyatt in the Arnett goal, but rolled his shot just wide of the target.

Second Chance

He did take his chance the second time around, when he collected a through pass from Junior Neil in midfield, sprinted away from two defenders before firing into the goal, making the score 1-1 in the 29th.

It was his tenth goal of the season.

Neil would then double the hosts' lead in the 32nd minute, with a thunderous left-footed shot, after he was sprung from midfield, as Reno took the lead against the run-of-play.

Arnett had the better of play in the second half, but had precious little to show, as Reno played good defence to keep the three points, and delight assistant coach Machel Woolery.

"We played a tactically sound game today, especially after going down early," said Woolery.

"We feel good where we are in the table at the moment, but we cannot get complacent as we have lot more work ahead of us," he said.
