Unidentified man shot in Stony Hill

A man, whose identity the police did not reveal, was shot and killed late Tuesday evening by unknown assailants in Stony Hill, St. Andrew, THE STAR understands.

Information reaching our news desk is that the body of an unidentified male was found in the vicinity of 5 Brooks Level Road, Stony Hill about 8:30pm, after loud explosions were heard in the area.

According to the police, investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the death of the male who appears to be in his mid 20s.

THE STAR gathered that the police had an interest in the dead man, who has been allegedly linked to numerous robberies, shootings and murder in and around the St. Andrew North Police Division.

Sources close to our news team have indicated that the police know the deceased man, however, they are waiting for him to be positively identified by a family member.

The communication arm of the JCF, Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) has confirmed the reports of the murder.

CCU adds that the deceased is about 175 cm long and was clad in a blue jeans, white marina and a pair of black and brown shoes.

THE STAR understands that residents stumbled on the body lying in bushes and summoned the police.

According to the Stony hill police, on their arrival, the body was seen with multiple gunshot wounds.

The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue.

Investigations are ongoing.
