Wolmer's moved within a point of their second consecutive semi-finals, after powering their way to a comprehensive 4-0 win over Haile Selassie, in Group H of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/LIME Manning Cup, at the Spanish Town Prison Oval yesterday. With this win Wolmer's move to six points and maintain group leadership.

Yesterday's results leave all eyes fixed on Group H, which is set for an intriguing climax between the Wolmerians and the Georgians. St George's climbed to second in the group, courtesy of a comprehensive 5-1 win over Calabar, which was the second game of the double-header.

A draw with St George's in their final second-round fixture would see Wolmer's qualify for the semi-finals of the competition, while St George's must win to advance to the last four.

Joshua McNaught scored a glancing header to send Wolmer's into the lead, eight minutes into the game. Jaheel Hyde doubled that lead with a superb volley in the 42nd minute. There was impressive link up of play between Rojay Smith and Khori Bennett for the third and fourth goals. Bennett supplied an aerial ball which Smith coolly headed home in the 49th. He then returned an assist to Bennett, who tapped in from close range to round out the 4-0 scoreline in the 68th.

Coach Ludlow Bernard believes his team is in poll position to advance to the semis, after the win.

"It was a good and solid performance on the day," he said.

"My team played very decisive and it was good to see them win," he added.

"We now look to win against George's and qualify for the semi-finals," he added.

Haile Selassie coach, Michael Williams, believes the better team won.

"We gave up the ball too often and Wolmer's made the best of our mistakes," he said. "This has been a good season for us, we will have the same players ready to compete next year once they remain disciplined," he said.
