Recording artiste and music marketing expert Contractor, resumed work immediately after returning to Jamaica from a five-month promotional tour in the UK.

Contractor, real name Sean Edwards, has appeared on several entertainment programmes to talk about his promotional tour in the UK, revealing a market in Europe for reggae and dancehall.

The tour included several radio and television interviews on Beat FM, Flames FM and BBC Three Counties radio, etc. Contractor also performed his singles Babylon Be Still, Break My Promise and Guilty. He also featured Ishawna's Need Love and Nature's No Guns and World Peace.

Since his return, the St Ann-based guru was invited to RE TV, Irie FM and TVJ's Entertainment Prime to do an interview about his work in the UK. From this experience, Contractor reasoned that there is plenty of opportunity for reggae and dancehall throughout Europe.

"There are plenty of spaces still for dancehall and reggae music in Europe. The work of promoting music in these areas is very challenging simply because you don't get any rest, because of the volume of requests," he said.

However, he revealed that several Jamaican artistes are suffering from lack of exposure, which he believes reflects in their music.

"In my opinion, many Jamaicans cannot read and write, so this causes them to be very limited with their lyrics. Songs which dominate Europe have a universal message," he added.

He said, however, that being a Jamaican artiste, you are in an advantageous position, as readily people are keen on listening to materials coming from this region.

"It's a plus. You just need to say you are Jamaican. You excel, however, when you can add quality to that,' he said.
