Munga set to return to the US

Artiste gets work permit

Dancehall artiste Munga Honorable, is the latest entertainer to be granted a US work permit, giving him the opportunity to perform in that territory once again. Munga, born Damion Rhoden, last stepped foot on US soil in the summer of 2011.

He told THE STAR, "It's a great feeling, it feel like how addi woulda feel if him get let out right now!"

The Gangsta Ras, during the years without a US work permit, has been maintaining a relatively steady presence on the entertainment scene.

His latest releases include One Life for Ja Productions, Shell Dem for Kick Dem Records, Different Currency featuring Ghetto Bomb for Good Good Productions, Happy Rasta for True Legends Music, Inna Mi Head for Sketch Records and, most recently, Sicka1Part for his own Hilltop Records.

The Bad From Mi Born hitmaker who has seen brighter days in the dynamic and evolving industry is now gearing to take his career to a higher level.

Collaborative effort

"We are concentrating on completing the album for JA Productions, which is a collaborative effort with Hilltop Records, and a promotional tour is also in the pipeline while we confirm some of the pending dates," an upbeat Munga told THE STAR.

During the spell without his US work permit, Munga was being kept on the grind recording and performing for his fans in the Caribbean and Europe.

He recently visited the latter, where he performed on a series of gigs in Bern City, Zurich and Paris.

Munga says plans are afoot to finish 2014 strong so that he can greet the new year on a musical high.

His next scheduled performance on a local stage is Luton Fyah's Birthday Bash on December 6.

Over the past weeks, several dancehall artistes have been successful in obtaining a work permit to be able to perform in the United States. The list includes Iyara, Black Ryno and Alkaline.
