A man and a woman involved in a case and cross case of assault, had their bails extended when they appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with assaulting a female and malicious destruction of property is Knave Grey, barber, of a Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11 address. Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is his babymother, Lackiesha McKay, also of a Seaview Gardens address.

Allegations are that, on the day of the incident, it is believed that McKay approached Grey, who is her 10-year-old child's father, for a pair of shoes as well as money for their son. However, sometime during the conversation, it is alleged that things got heated and took a violent turn, resulting in the two inflicting injuries on each other. It is believed that, sometime during the fracas, a cellular phone belonging to the female accused was damaged.

"Every time mi go to him for something for mi son, him feel like say him always have to lick mi. So mi lick him back with a little stone," McKay began.

"So you hit her, Mr Grey?" asked Senior Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey.

"No, Your Honour," Grey replied.

The court heard that the two have had a long-standing dispute regarding the support of their son.

"She sell with her aunty down a di arcade a Christmas time. Everything weh mi give her, a sell she sell dem. Mi son say mi not to give her nuh more tings," Grey said. "She come a mi barber shop, she fling stones inna mi mirror dem!"

"Unu must stop and behave like adults, yu nuh. Everybody who breaks the law going have to face the music!" RM Pusey admonished.

Subsequently, the matter was set for intervention, and the two were ordered to return to court on December 10.

"And stay away from each other for the time being!" RM Pusey concluded.
