Choir members prevent mob beating

Chad Bryan, Staff Reporter

Choir members of a Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in St James, Montego Bay, had to rescue three men, who were alleged to have robbed a woman, after they were set upon by an angry mob.

A fourth individual, a 17 year-old, was allegedly beaten to death by the mob in the incident.

According to the St James police, the lawmen were called to the scene to remove the three men and the deceased, 17-year-old Jevaughn Wilmott, after they allegedly held up and robbed the female, who then raised an alarm.

This subsequently resulted in residents attacking the four men.

Wilmott was caught and then beaten. Upon the arrival of the police, he was seen with multiple stab wounds.

The other three men, who escaped, ran inside the SDA church where members of the choir were in a rehearsal session. The men were later rescued by the police.
