A principal of a high school in St Thomas is on the firing line as members of his teaching staff have levelled accusations against his leadership of the institution.

In a letter to the chairman of the school dated early October which was obtained by THE WEEKEND STAR, the members of staff outlined several complaints which arose from his actions.

According to the teachers, the principal has been making unilateral decisions; disregarding the input of senior members of the teaching staff and levelled a threat against a teacher. He has also been accused of hosting an entertainment activity without the knowledge of staff members and is threatening the school's status as a traditional high school.

The teachers say they have sought to assist the principal to improve his style of leadership, but have now grown frustrated.

The chairman of the institution, when contacted, remained tight-lipped on the issue.

"Let the teacher who gave this to you tell you what is happening. I have spoken to them on two occasions, so let them tell it to you. The process is that, once there is a complaint, the personnel committee meets and deals with it. The matter is being dealt with," the chairman said.
