Be careful of 'sinister' key rings - police

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

The St Catherine North police are warning persons to be careful of 'sinister' key rings that criminals are using to track them.

This was revealed by Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth at a press conference at the Spanish Town Police Station yesterday.

"They are using the key ring which has a chip inside and the victims are invariably tracked and targeted by the robbers," Nesbeth said.

He said that in some cases the victims are women whose vehicles are taken away by the culprit(s).

Meanwhile, the senior policeman said in addition to the new trend, gang violence continues to wreak havoc.

He said despite the police best efforts the gangs continue to rob, kill and extort.

He said the two gangs, Clansman and One Order, are responsible for most of the criminal activities in the division.

Despite the uphill task, he said that the police will remain vigilant with members of the force flooding the business centres and doing more vehicular checks to deal with crime prevention.
