High drama unfolded at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona campus, yesterday when a man, believed to be of unsound mind, terrorised several students and members of staff, THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt.

It is reported that he was later accosted and detained by campus security personnel and later handed over to police officers attached to the UWI Mona Police Station.

The police's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) confirmed the incident.

"There was an altercation in the August Town area, and the accused, who is believed to be of unsound mind, ran on to the UWI, Mona compound, where he was accosted by the police," the CCU representative said.

He is reportedly in the custody of the police.
