It was not the regular decor with a fancy stage or lighting, but persons who attended Boom Badda Dan Satdehz in Waterhouse, St Andrew, certainly had fun.

When THE STAR entered the venue on Saturday, community members circled the corners of the netball court of the Drewsland Community Centre, leaving enough in the centre of the asphalt court for what would become the stage. While some persons were dressed up in nice casual wear, others made do in their stocking caps and house slippers. Children were also in the mix, with some riding their bicycles on the outskirts of the court.

There was, however, a nicely placed elevated VIP area that helped to add to what was a very simple venue.

But none of those things took away from what would become an energy-filled and entertaining event.

Several songs into the evening, ZJ Chrome took control of the turntable, while dancer-turned-deejay Chi Ching Ching called the dancers who would be competing for $10,000 to take their places.

The first battle was between Red Alert and Talent Flava which was obviously more superior than their opponent. Akon Badda Dan came later and managed to stand up against Man Ah 40.

But the biggest applause for the night came for Straight Edge.

"I wonder if da round ya jus done done done done," Chi Ching Ching said after Straight Edge did a massive dance stunt.

But before the finals between Talent Flava and Straight Edge, two veterans - somewhat unkempt dancers - Chucky and Zagga Zow, also did their face-off. The entertaining two had majority of the audience dancing along with them as they pranced around the asphalt stage.

The Boom Divas, who were entertaining the crowd before the competition, also took to the stage, dancing up a storm in unison to songs like Kalado's Personally, RDX's Ride It and Demarco's Puppy Tail. At this point, splits and 'head top' moves seemed to be the norm.

In the end, the final battle between Straight Edge and Talent Flava seemed to be much like the previous rounds, but it was Talent Flavour that got the edge this time around and walked away with the $10,000 and a chance to compete for US$10,000 in the grand final of the competition.
