National basketball representative Jerome Jordan has been making steady progress with the Brooklyn Nets in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the United States.

The 7"1' Jordan, who plays centre, scored three points and grabbed three in five minutes in a losing effort against the Miami Heat on Tuesday in Brooklyn.

Jordan is averaging three points and two rebounds per game, in the NBA this season.

He scored a season-high 12 points against Cleveland Cavaliers on December 8 and followed up by scoring 10 points against the Chicago Bulls two days later. However, the Nets lost both games.

The 28-year-old, who signed with the Nets in September, last represented Jamaica in 2013 at the FIBA Americas Championships, which was held in Caracas, Venezuela. Jamaica placed fourth.

Jordan played last season in Italy with Virtus Bologna, where he averaged 8.9 points and 3.9 rebounds in 24 games, averaging 18.6 minutes per game.

He split the 2012-13 season, playing in the NBA Development League for the Reno Bighorns (24 games) and the Los Angeles D-Fenders (18 games).

Jordan was named to the 2013 All-NBA D-League Third Team after averaging 12.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 42 games (36 starts). He is reportedly earning a second-year-veteran minimum deal of $915,243 from the Nets.

The Nets team, which includes the likes of Kevin Garnett and Deron Williams, is currently eighth in the Eastern Conference standings with a record, of 10 wins and 13 defeats.
