Fast bowler Krishmar Santokie has expressed disappointment at being released by Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 outfit Mumbai Indians ahead of next year's tournament.

The 29-year-old, a recent regular in the West Indies Twenty20 team, was dropped by the tournament giants after less-than-ideal returns in his first season. He played two matches and ended with figures of two for 24 and one for 24.

"I feel a bit disappointed, but I am not overly concerned as I did not play much (many) games," Santokie said.

"I played in only two of 14 for the season, and knew that if I had gotten more opportunity (opportunities), I would have made more of an impression. It is also my first season, and going into the draft next year, I know that if I am to continue to do well with the West Indies, I should stand another chance," Santokie said. The IPL draft will be staged early next year, with Santokie, who last represented the West Indies in August against Bangladesh, a potential candidate for the West Indies ahead of the regional men's Twenty20 clash with South Africa.

West Indies are scheduled to play the Proteas in three Twenty20 internationals immediately following their ongoing three-match Test series.

The Twenty20s will start on January 9. The team will also play a five-match one day international series before both teams depart for the ICC World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
