The king of the track, Usain Bolt, hinted that his legendary status could be further enhanced at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he will be seeking to win three consecutive Olympic gold medals.

"I would like to say I am a dominant force in the sport (athletics). When I retire, people could possibly crown me king of the sport," said Bolt.

The lanky athlete, who has double Olympic titles in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m, was speaking at a meet and greet session of supporters at an autograph signing ceremony at the Usain Bolt Tracks and Records Sports Bar.

He told Star Sports that he is in good shape and has no plans of slowing down. "I am taking my career one step at a time. Rio is where I will focus on defending my titles and winning three gold medals in three Olympics."

Bolt outlined that he is physically healthy, and making regular checks with his doctor to ensure fitness. He said that Jamaica's track and field future remains bright, highlighting athletes like Michael O'Hara of Calabar who could be world beaters.

Nugent Walker, Bolt's executive manager, described yesterday's event as an opportunity to give back to make fans happy.

"Many adoring fans braved the downpour to come to Tracks and Records to meet Usain," he said. "We are glad to bond with locals and foreigners as well as to promote the UBTR brand," he added.

Brazil, the host of the next Olympics, turned out fans at yesterday's autograph signing. One Sao Paolo-based family, George Adati, his wife Andrea, and daughter Martina, spent five of their last 10 days on the island waiting to meet the legendary Bolt.

"This is our first time in Jamaica, the names Usain Bolt, Bob Marley and the other heroes brought us here," they shared.

"We will be gunning for Usain Bolt and Jamaica at our Olympics," the family added. They explained that they knew of the event via Usain Bolt's Instagram account.
