Home of cricket gets fifth World Cup Final

Lord's cricket ground in London has been chosen to host the 2017 ICC Women's World Cup Final and the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup Final, a report on the ground's web page said yesterday.

The London, England ground, known as the Home of Cricket, will also host two Investec Test matches and the Royal London one-day Cup Final each year in 2017 and 2018 and 2019, and a one-day International in both 2017 and 2018.

The England and Wales Cricket Board revealed the selection for major match hosts from 2017 to 2019 inclusive.

The 2017 ICC Women's World Cup Final will be the second to be held at Lord's, following the home team's win against New Zealand in 1993.

The 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup Final will be the fifth to be held there. Four men's World Cup finals, including the very first in 1975, were staged at the ground. The other finals were held in 1979, 1983 and 1999.
