Knollis football field gets $10-million upgrade

Contributed - Natalie Neita-Headley, minister with responsibility for sports (left), presents a token of appreciation to Xiegui Du, engineering manager for the Jamaica North-South Highway Project management unit, for his company's contribution of 50 footballs at a cost of $200,000. Occasion was the seventh staging of the Natalie Neita-Headley Sports League Awards Ceremony, at the Knollis Community Centre in Bog Walk, last Saturday.

The football field at Knollis in Bog Walk, St Catherine, received a $10-million upgrade - Natalie Neita-Headley, minister with responsibility for sports, told attendees at the Sports League Awards Ceremony, named in her honour, on Saturday, December 13.

The competition was part sponsored by China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) which donated 50 balls to the effort. A number of awards and medals were presented at the event for three main categories namely, netball, football and cricket.

The winners for North-Central St Catherine Sports League finals are as follows: for netball, Deeside copped the top prize, Coolie Lane came first in the football category, and Bog Walk was the top team in cricket.
