Dancehall artiste Dwayne Newby, more popularly known as Rollie Fresh, has come out swinging at deejays Gage and Alkaline, whom he claims are not being original.

According to the young artiste, who released a diss song called World A@#, the new crop of recording artistes is not focused on originality, but instead are trying to be the best imitators.

Rollie Fresh operates his own record label called Above the Average Records and is already receiving attention on social media. His previous single, A Nuh Every Gal, currently has over 100,000 views on YouTube.com.

The diss single, however, is intended to point out to the 'copycat' artistes the importance of having a unique identity.

"World A@# outlines the frequency of artistes' inability to exercise their own creativity and uniqueness. Everyone is inspired by something, someone or both. But the problem that I find with copycats is when one doesn't take that inspiration as an avenue to find one's own self and nurture the growth of one's own individuality," he said. "Trying to sound and look like someone doesn't make you a new artiste. It makes you a new copycat and it shows they have nothing to offer.

"Moreover, some have gone overboard with the things they are saying. The children are our future and Jamaica has a lot to offer, and artistes have a social responsibility because culture is spread through music."

Rollie Fresh is also promoting a single called Good Life, which features reggae singer Chronixx.
