A Jamaican native who is alleged to have savagely beaten his ex-lover to death, later slashing the throat of his infant daughter in England, was sentenced to a minimum of 35 years in prison.

Charged with murder is 54-year-old handyman, Roland McKoy, of a London, England, address.

According to the BBC, McKoy reportedly killed the two, Valerie Forde, 45, and 22-month-old, Jahzara, at their family home in Hackney, north London, last March.

It is reported that a machete, hammer and screwdriver were used to carry out the assault resulting in Forde's death. McKoy's baby daughter's throat was later slit.

Afterwards, he reportedly drank bleach and left a note on Forde's face, which was stained with Jahzara's blood, blaming her for what happened.

The note reportedly read: "Valerie Forde you never stop playing derty ticks (sic) for many years on all people, places and things you target. Now the world must see the sudden destructions you create in our families, our home and on yourself. Our fame in history. Roland."

It is believed that McKoy was found lying with the bodies.

The verdict was said to have been met with cheers and clapping from the public gallery.

Judge Charles Wide, who sentenced McKoy, stated: "You did it out of spite and resentment. Valerie at long last had the strength and resolve to say that enough is enough, and you had to go."
