Raymond Graham, STAR Writer

CALABAR were crowned Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association urban Under-16 champions at the Stadium Courts yesterday.

They defeated St Jago High 42-28 to clinch the best of three finals 2-0.

Calabar could complete the urban area double as it will take a game three to decide the Under-19 champions. Yesterday, Calabar's senior team defeated St George's College 67-63 to even the series. The final game will be played today at the Stadium Courts at 4 p.m.

After winning the first game in the senior finals on Tuesday, St George's were well on target to take a 2-0 lead and the title, after controlling the first three quarters. They led 19-18, 36-30 and 47-42. However, Calabar took their first lead 61-59 with 1:34 to go before holding on for a win to tie the series 1-1.

Malik McCarthy with 25 points and 10 rebounds led the way for Calabar. Shemar Shand scored 16 points.

Malik Jackson led the way for St George's with 27 points.

In the Under-16 finals, Calabar, like they did on Tuesday, found their best form in the final quarter. They outscored their opponents 16-4 for a convincing 42-28 win.

Jordan Kellier with 27 points, seven blocks and two steals was the top player for Calabar. Lushane Wilson with 16 points and 18 rebounds was St Jago's top player.
