Top boys' teams Calabar, Kingston College, Jamaica College, and St Jago are expected to be out in full force at today's Queen's/Grace Jackson meet at the National Stadium in Kingston.

After sending a strong message especially in classes one and two at the Douglas Forrest Invitational two weeks ago, the Michael Clarke-coached Calabar will welcome the appearance of their strong rivals.

After having a great start to his season a year ago derailed at 'Champs' by injury, KC's Akeem Bloomfield will make his first appearance on the track this season in the class one. It will be interesting to see how he performs after a long lay-off.

All eyes will be on the class one 400 metres, an event which is building up to be one to watch at Champs this year.

St Jago High's duo of Nathon Allen and Martin Manley, JC's Devaughn Baker, and KC's Twyane Crooks, formerly of Vere Technical, have all looked good so far in earlier meets and will all want to stamp their class early.

After excellent starts to their class two careers Tyreke Wilson and Christopher Taylor of Calabar will hope to match skills with KC's outstanding Jevaughn Matherson.

The sprint hurdles will be contested for the first time this season here. Other events will be 200m, 400m, 800m open for senior athletes, high jump, long jump, and triple jump.

Meanwhile, Edwin Allen will also want to maintain its momentum competing in Santa Cruz at the St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) Invitational.

The Clarendon school will not be short of competition and will do battle with the likes of Hydel, Vere, Holmwood, and hosts STETHS.

Hydel look a live threat to the defending champions and are so far most rounded team among the females.

Events to be contested at STETHS are 100m, 400m, 1500m, 4x400m and 4x800m, shot put, discus throw, high jump, and javelin.
