Talented TONY K, last year's 2000 Guineas and Governor's Cup winner, who failed by three lengths to add the Jamaica Derby, could crack the 1000-metre straight track record at Caymanas Park tomorrow afternoon.

Jaded after July's St Leger, TALENTED TONY K was given three months off by trainer Lorne Kirlew. He returned with a poor effort at 1200 metres in October, finishing down the track in an open allowance won by United States-bred FORTUNEONEHUNDRED.

A month later, TALENTED TONY K was only beaten by a length and a quarter, a blanket finish, in the Caribbean Sprint won by POTCHEEN, a grade one race, which he led in splits of 22.3 and 45.2.

He returned in December to carry another grade-one field into the lane, this time the Gold Cup, which he led to the top of the lane and was no further than fifth a furlong out - a six-furlong split of 1:10.4.

Down two classes among overnight allowance horses tomorrow, 117lb should be featherweight for TALENTED TONY K on a lightning-fast track. He is drawn at post-position seven in an eight-horse field after galloping 57.3 from the gate Saturday morning.

The 1000-metre straight track record of 56.1 is jointly held by MUSICAL MAESTRO and MINISTEROFJUSTICE, both set on November 22, but two years apart, 2006 and 2008, respectively.

Having breezed the distance in 57.4 at exercise, TALENTED TONY K could take advantage of the fast strip to shave a fifth or two off the existing mark.

Richard Azan is set to sweep three of the first five races with LADY ABHIJITA, MAN IN BLUE and KRONUS. LADY ABHIJITA will prefer the additional furlong of the 1500-metre first race after closing under minimal urging behind MERU, at 1300 metres, last Saturday.

MAN IN BLUE is a Miracle Man-sired debutant, who beat EDISON at exercise Monday morning, and hard to oppose at 1200 metres among maidens.

KRONUS definitely needed more real estate when fourth behind RAS EMANUEL on Saturday and should atone at 1200 metres.

Anthony Nunes should saddle two winners - STOP A GAP in the fourth and LORD STORM in the sixth.
