The St Catherine South police have launched a probe into the shooting death of a man who was fatally shot in Waterford, St Catherine, on Wednesday evening, THE STAR understands.

Information reaching our news desk is that 24-year-old Rushane Smith, o/c Dappy of an Independent City address, was attacked and shot to death by unknown assailants.

Unconfirmed reports suggest he was on a visit to the Waterford community.

Our news team gathered that residents reportedly heard loud explosions, and after checks were made, Smith was seen suffering from gunshot wounds.

The police were alerted, and upon arrival, the deceased man was seen laying along Hannah Way in Waterford.

Our news team was told that Smith was shot multiple times.

The Waterford police are investigating.
