Swaby deal finalised

MARC STAMP, STAR Writer

IT is now official. Francois Swaby has moved from Sporting Central Academy to Humble Lion on loan until the full payment is done.

Both clubs were engaged in a money dispute over the player. A source close to the deal, who declined to be identified, disclosed that "it will take $670,000 for a permanent deal. At least half of that money must be paid up front".

However, the clubs refused to reveal the full monetary deal for the Swaby. Sporting Central's president and manager Ainsley Lowe confirmed the move.

"The document for the transfer is already signed," Lowe told STAR Sports yesterday afternoon.

Gareth Williams, treasurer of Sporting Central said: "Humble Lion has paid over forty per cent of the money, so the player will be on loan until the remainder of the payment is done. Swaby can now represent Humble Lion."

Humble Lion's chairman, Mike Henry, also disclosed that the player had been transferred on loan. "He (Swaby) is now at Humble Lion on loan," Henry said.

Swaby joins Gregory Lewis and Kavon Reid, who moved from Sporting Central to their Clarendon neighbours, Humble Lion, during the January transfer window that closes today.

Swaby's arrival will bolster Humble Lion's attack with players like Devon Hodges, Ricardo Cousins, Woolry Wolfe, and Jermaine Christian in the squad.

Humble Lion have not tasted defeat in the last five games, moving on to fifth position on 29 points in the 12-team table. They are behind leaders Arnett Gardens (45), Waterhouse (38), Montego Bay (36), and Harbour View (34) in the battle for the top four play-off spots.

Meanwhile, Sporting Central is in danger of relegation as they are on 21 points in 10th position.
