The 2015 Inter-Secondary Sports Association (ISSA) Boys and Girls' Athletic Championships is shaping up to be one of the closest in years.

Today at the St Elizabeth Technical Invitational meet, the Michael Dyke-coached Edwin Allen team will be severely tested by the Hydel machine.

Though the likes of St Jago, Vere, and Holmwood are expected to be main spoilers, it is the Ferry-based team that has looked most dangerous so far, and their battle with Edwin Allen today will answer a lot of questions.

St Jago has looked like the best team in hurdles so far, Vere the best in middle and long distances, and Holmwood also showing quality in middle distance. Hydel looks like the most complete team.

Fireworks are expected and the opening event, the girls' 400m hurdles, should set the pace for some special performances for the remainder of the day.

Mount Alvernia High's, Soyinne Grenion is among the females on whom all eyes will be. The young sprinter will compete in the class four 100m. The 13-year-old athlete was sensational at the Douglas Forrest Invitational meet two weeks ago, where she clocked a zippy 24.97 seconds for the top time in the 200m, the second fastest time of the day.

It should also be a good day for home team STETHS, as Marvin and Okeen Williams should give them a flying start in the 400m hurdles, where they are both medal contenders for Champs.

The team should be led by the likes of Jauavney James and Shemar Salmon in Class Two, along with Paul Tate in Class One.

Events down for competition are the 100m, 400m, 1500m, 4x400m, discus and high jump.
