Wild Axe chops with 'Hot Steppa'

Portmore-based dancehall artiste Wild Axe has been aggressively promoting his new single, 'Hot Steppa', and has been getting good feedback. The song is enjoying rotation on several Internet radio stations and is featured on local dancehall mixtapes.

"Mi ah get some good reactions overseas, in the European market. The ting up, mi a get some good radio and street support," said Wild Axe, whose real name is Ryan Bennett.

The song and its '100 Degree' rhythm is produced by Control Tower Squad. The rhythm also features Popcaan, I-Octane and Demarco, among others. Hot Steppa will also be available on Wild Axe's EP, which will be released in April 2015 and will be distributed by 21st Hapilos Digital Distribution.

"The EP a go change the dancehall game," he said confidently.

He has been hitting the street dance circuit hard, in an effort to get buzz around the song. "The networking in the streets is starting to pay off. A number of selectors have been endorsing the ting and the fan base a build up," Wild Axe said.

He performed at Ken's Wildflower Lounge a few years ago at a community stage show in Portmore. He also made an appearance at a club show in Leicester and in London, UK.

"Now, I am aiming for the big shows on a worldwide basis. my management has been getting calls for bookings in clubs all over Europe," he said.

With the direction of his manager, Charmaine Scott, he has been recording songs with Smoothface Production, which is based in the UK, as well as Digitalize Records, based in Kingston, and the UK-based Control Tower Squad.
