St Elizabeth man gets nine months for wounding |
|||||
A St Elizabeth man was yesterday sentenced to nine months' imprisonment at hard labour for unlawful wounding when he appeared in the Balaclava Resident Magistrate's Court. Orville Owen had been brought before the court after he had chopped another man in the back of his head and had previously been charged with wounding with intent, however, that charge was reduced to unlawful wounding. At the time of the offence, Owen was on a suspended sentence for biting his mother during a struggle. As a result of him committing another offence while on the suspended sentence, he was ordered to serve three months at hard labour for the previous offence. However, both sentences will run concurrently so Owen will only spend nine months in prison. - L.C.
