Marsh, Barrett best of Walter Rodgers swim meet

Outstanding and exciting performances epitomised the WATA/Walter Rodgers Age Group National Swimming championships which ended at the Stadium Swimming Pool on Sunday, after five days of intense competition.

Jesse Marsh highlighted the male category, winning two races in the 13-14 age group, to help Tornadoes blow away the competition and secure the championship with 1827 points.

Marlin's Anjouii Barrett in the girls 13-14 age group dominated the female section with 10 wins. Sidrell Williams of unattached Speedos registered three meet records and two Pan American Games B qualifying times.

'Y' Speedos finished second behind Tornadoes in the championship with 1625.50 points, Swimaz Aquatic Swim Club came third with 733.50, Marlin were fourth with 644 and Blue Seal Swim Club fifth with 588.

Marsh and Barrett, both students of Campion College, were in scintillating form. Marsh won the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke; 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly; 100m, 200m, and 400m freestyle, and the 200m and 400m Individual medleys. He amassed 104 points for his team.

Marsh told STAR Sports his focus is on CARIFTA.

"Winning all these events and doing some (of my) best times and being close to my best times was really good for me," said Marsh.

Barrett, took home the 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle; 50m, 100m, and 200m butterfly; 200m and 400m IM, 50m backstroke, and 200m breaststroke.

She tallied 106 points.Barrett said her hard work and preparation paid off.

"I think I did very well, I was in preparation from before and I trained hard and I came here (and) gave it my all," she commented.
