Don't harm children, says Heart Trust/NTA administrator

Sasha Shim-Hue, the deputy manager of the Ebony Park Heart Trust/NTA, recently reminded foster parents that foster homes must be places of healing and restoration for children who have suffered emotional trauma.

While lauding foster parents for their contribution and sacrifice, she said, "If you are not taking care of the children, bring them back."

Shim-Hue was addressing 94 foster parents from Clarendon, Manchester and St Elizabeth at an appreciation function put on by the Child Development Agency's (CDA) southern regional office, held at the Versailles hotel in Clarendon recently.

The function was part of Foster Care Recognition Week. Eleven children also participated in the event.

Foster care is part of the CDA's Living in Family Environment (LIFE) programme, and allows for temporary placement of children with families outside of their biological families.

"Children who come to you have already been bruised and abused. The Lord has entrusted these children to your care, strive to treat them well; strive to be a blessing to them.

Remember, the Bible says that it is better to put a millstone around your neck that to harm one of these little ones," Shim-Hue said.

Shim-Hue urged persons to show children unconditional love and to not neglect them.
