Man on assault rap gets bail extension

Bjorn Burke, Staff Reporter

A man accused of assaulting a woman had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court recently.

Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Adrian Dixon, who pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Allegations are that on the day of the incident, the accused man and the female complainant had a disagreement in which a board was brought into play. It is believed that the board was then used by the accused to beat the complainant all over her body, causing swelling, bruises and pains.

Following a report made by the complainant to the police, Dixon was arrested and charged.

In court, Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked the accused if he had any intentions of procuring a lawyer, to which he replied in the negative.

Dixon had his bail extended by the sitting magistrate, and was ordered to return to court on May 19, pending trial.
