Diamond Sox wins big award

In keeping with the current momentum leading to the release of his debut album, international reggae singer Iba MaHr is rather excited to walk away with the Song of the Year award at the 6th annual Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRia) awards held on Saturday at the Courtleigh Auditorium.

Iba MaHr won for his song, Diamond Sox. Among the nominees were Protoje featuring Chronixx with Who Knows, Chronixx featuring Kabaka Pyramid for Mi Alright, Ding Dong for Syvah, and also Tarrus Riley for My Day.

As he held his award, an ecstatic Iba MaHr thanked his fans for their continued support. He also commended JaRia for the recognition, in addition to their unrelenting efforts in repositioning Jamaica as the centre of the global reggae movement and culture.

Authentic

Mahr also credited his achievement to his management team and record label, stating: "A lot of this wouldn't have been possible without my managers, Roland McDermot and Jermaine Edwards. I also want to recognise and thank the producers of this single, Wayne 'Unga' Thompson and Jason Welsh of Notis Records for their time and patience in creating undoubtedly one of the most authentic dancehall rhythms of our time".

As Diamond Sox continues to gain traction internationally, a humbled Iba MaHr has expressed gratitude to his mother for the integral role she has played in guiding his musical journey, with the release of his new single, Mama Rosie, produced by Notis Records.

He also vowed to maintain consciousness with the Damian 'Jr Gong' Marley-produced Talk If Dem Want.
