ISLAMABAD, pakistan (AP):

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) says chief selector Moin Khan will not return to the World Cup, and has apologised for going to a casino in New Zealand.

Banned

Casinos and gambling are banned in Pakistan, and criticism of Khan for going to one on February 19 in Christchurch went all the way to parliament. Khan was ordered to come home.

PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan says he met with Moin Khan yesterday, and accepts the selector's explanation that he only dined at the casino with his wife and two friends.

Shaharyar Khan adds that Moin Khan apologised for choosing a wrong place to eat out.

Shaharyar Khan says he didn't receive any reports contrary to Moin Khan's claims, and therefore "the matter is now closed, but he will not go back (to the World Cup)".
