Man remanded for smuggling attempt

A man accused of attempting to smuggle a quantity of cocaine into the island was further remanded into custody when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with possession of, dealing in, importing, and conspiracy to import cocaine is Delroy Staple, who pleaded guilty to the offences.

The court heard that Staple excreted a quantity of cocaine following a probe by police personnel.

The accused, who was ordered further remanded into custody by Resident Magistrate Simone Wolfe-Reece, is to return to court on April 9, pending sentencing.
