West Kingston residents returned to the streets a second time to protest the transfer of head of the division, Senior Superintendent of Police Steve McGregor.

McGregor is set to be transferred to St James next month to help combat crime in that parish.

On Monday, residents urged national security minister Peter Bunting and Commissioner of Police Dr Carl Williams to rethink their decision.

Residents claimed that SSP McGregor made a difference in the community, providing summer jobs for students, allowing parties and maintained safety.

They said if another policeman were to take over, persons would die in the time it would take to get acquainted with the community.

The latest protest took place on Maxfield Avenue and surrounding areas. residents demanded the attention of police commissioner

Speaking with THE STAR, McGregor explained that the move to St James is necessary.

"My strategy is to engage so they have bought into a lot of what I have done, and I understand. I will have to move because it's a greater challenge and it's a national issue. It's a personal issue for me," McGregor said.
