woman faces court for wounding mattie

A woman accused of hitting another in the face causing a cut had her bail extended when she appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged with unlawful wounding is Paula Wignal who pleaded guilty with explanation to the offence.

The court heard that on the day of the incident, Wignal and the female complainant were at a party where the two met and reportedly had a dispute over Wignal's boyfriend, which rapidly turned physical. Following a verbal onslaught, Wignal struck the complaint in her face resulting in a wound.

"We did deh a di party and we did start fight and mi lick her," Wignal explained.

"Your Honour, there was no fight, she lick me. Ma'am, I'm dating her boyfriend so she keep on a call mi phone," the complainant retorted.

Wignal, who had her bail extended, was ordered to return to court on April 23 for sentencing. A fingerprint order was also made against her.
