Kingston College's (KC) principal, Dave Myrie, said Calabar might be favourites for 'Champs' but he's hoping KC can unseat the defending champions and reclaim the Mortimer Geddes Trophy for the first time in six years.

He has placed a lot of faith in new track and field coach, Neil Harrison, in his first year at the school, to get the job done.

Myrie said the former Munro trainer is a perfect fit for the famed North Street institution. He insists that Harrison is under no pressure to deliver the coveted Boys' Champs trophy this year.

"If Calabar wins by beating KC, I'm alright, because I know we did our best. If they are better than us, then they are better than us. Even if they just perform better than you on the day, you have to give them kudos."

"Mr Harrison is a class coach. He's a teacher and a senior member of staff at KC. He understands youngsters and working with them. There are many coaches around young people, but they don't understand working with them, and he does.

"He's a developmental coach, he has always taken a team out of nothing at Munro and produced goods at Champs.

"He has good rapport and camaraderie and you see it in the spirit of the team. So, he is one of the best coaches, and all the boys will support that," said Myrie.
