J'can in United States charged for child molestation

A Jamaican residing in the United States was last Friday charged in relation to the molestation of a 14-year-old girl in New Jersey, THE STAR has learnt.

According to the Cliffview Pilot, 49-year-old Kevin Wright allegedly molested and sodomised the child over a four-month period, five years ago. An indictment reportedly outlined a series of alleged acts between March and July 2009 that include intercourse, giving and getting oral sex, masturbation, digital penetration and touching the girl's breasts and vagina.

Wright was also charged with impairing the morals of a minor.

Wright was arrested after the alleged victim (who was 14 at the time) told her mother about the alleged incidents. Her mother called authorities and detectives and members of the prosecutor's Special Victims Unit interviewed the alleged victim before arresting Wright.

Wright is being held on $125,000 bail in the Bergen County jail, reduced from $200,000.
