Three fined for selling illegal cash pot tickets

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Three St Catherine women held selling illegal Cash Pot tickets were each fined $25,000 or three months' imprisonment in the Old Harbour Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Those fined are Dionne Campbell, 42, Tracey-Ann Allen, 24 and 32-year-old Vanessa Denny, all from Old Harbour.

When the matter was mentioned before Resident Magistrate Horace Mitchell, the three accused pleaded guilty. After begging the RM for leniency, they were each fined $15,000 or three months for possession of cash pot tickets, and $10,000 or three months for operating as a bookmaker without a permit.

They were warned not to be held as illegal bookmakers again.

The court heard that police and representatives from the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission caught the women selling cash pot tickets.
