Andre' Williams, STAR Writer

The St James police have ruled out foul play in their investigation surrounding the death of Bahamian R&B singer Johnny Kemp, who died in Jamaica last Thursday.

Kemp, 55, is best known for the 1988 party anthem Just Got Paid.

According to www.cnn.com, the singer is believed to have drowned at a beach in Montego Bay on Thursday morning.

A release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said passers-by saw Kemp's body floating faced down in the water around 9:50 a.m. Police were summoned and the body removed to the morgue.

THE STAR gathered that Kemp was scheduled to perform on the Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage Cruise, however, he did not board the ship.

Meanwhile, Kemp's Just Got Paid once held the No.1 spot on the US Billboard R&B chart and earned the artiste a Grammy nomination.
