Woman faces public mischief charges

A fine of $50,000 or six months' imprisonment were the options facing a woman in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, who claimed she had been robbed by a man.

Charged for creating public mischief is Rettania Grant-Burrell.

The Crown alleges that the accused had reported to the police that on March 16, she was held up and robbed of $100,000 by a lone man who was armed with an object.

The police commenced an investigation into the incident where it was later discovered that the report was fabricated, as closed-circuit footage at the scene proved otherwise.
