Mico retains Rugby League title

The fairy-tale run of the Excelsior Community College Eagles came to an end on Saturday as The Mico University College Crocs retained the Jamaica Intercollegiate Sports Association Rugby League title after a 48-8 win.

Playing in their first final, the Roy Calvert Eagles were no match for two-time winners Mico Crocs, who outscored them 48-8 to secure their third consecutive hold on the Intercol Rugby League title.

Mico Croc, Damone Downer top scored top with nine kick conversions or 18 points, while Aveva McDonald and Romario Burke both scored four points each for the Eagles. Downer was also named the MVP of the finals.

In the third-place play-off, the 2014 beaten finalists G.C. Foster Lions defeated the UWI Mona Pelicans 66-16.

In a one-sided affair, the G.C. Foster Lions made a light meal of the UWI Pelicans. Ryan Grant from the G.C. Foster Lions top scored with three tries or 12 points, while Kemoy Wallace of the UWI Pelicans top scored with two tries and two goals or 12 points.
