Heart patients utilising the Linstead Hospital in St Catherine will benefit from the use of electrocardiography (ECG) machines as Trade Winds Citrus plans to provide the machines from funds raised from its annual Tru-Juice 5K Cross Country Run.

The event is scheduled for June 7 at the Tru-Juice orchards in Bog Walk.

Howard Lynch, manager for the St Catherine Health Services (South East), said the hospital has been in dire need of the machines.

More partnerships

"We are delighted that Tru-Juice has decided to name the Linstead Hospital as the beneficiary. It gives us great pleasure and we are looking forward to more partnerships to help us redevelop the Linstead Hospital," Lynch stated

Peter McConnell, managing director of Trade Winds Citrus, which produces Tru-Juice products, echoed his company's commitment to helping the institution.

"I have a very close relationship with the hospital so I am very aware of their needs. This is the third year that we are staging this event (5K Run) and it is the first year that we felt we needed a cause. The Linstead Hospital, we felt, was the neediest and it is right here in our very own backyard," McConnell explained.

To assist with the purchase of the ECG machines, specially branded Tru-Juice 5K Run donation boxes will be strategically placed at supermarkets islandwide.
