Contractor pleased with Irie FM performance

Reggae artiste Contractor is revelling in his performance at Irie FM during the launch of the Local Economic Development Support Programme (LEDSP), put on by the Social Development Commission and attended by Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller.

Contractor was among handpicked performers for the event, attended by members of parliament and Government ministers.

"For the first time, Irie FM, known as the number-one reggae radio station in the world, was visited by a Jamaican prime minster, and it was fitting that it was Portia Simpson Miller," Contractor said.

The artiste took the opportunity to get a close-up photograph with the prime minister, much to his delight.

Contractor performed his hit songs Break My Promise and Babylon Be Still, (his anti rent-a-dread song) which was well-received by Rastafarians at the event.

Contractor is about to record a new song, Outlaw, with United Kingdom (UK) rapper, Jethro Alonestar Sheeran, cousin of multi-platinum UK singer Ed Sheeran.

Other artistes who performed at the event include Richie Spice, Bongo Herman and dub poet Steppa.
