Digicel Rising Stars strikes 12

Jamaica's most loved talent show, Digicel Rising Stars, is on for its 12th season and kicked off its audition round last weekend at The Manning's School in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoereland.

The show's producer, Sharon Schroeter, said she was pleased with Sunday's turnout.

"Twelve years is a long time for any show to be going, but the turnout here in Sav reminds us that Digicel Rising Stars is still considered one of the best paths through which Jamaicans can showcase their talent and further their musical career."

Underscoring Schroeter's comment on longevity, title sponsor Digicel has remained with the talent show since inception.

Danielia McLean, sponsorship executive, Digicel, explained the brand's stick-to-it philosophy, saying, "As we continue to evolve into a complete communications and entertainment brand; we can tell that this is going to be a very good year for Digicel Rising Stars, and our customers who continue to support this talent show.

"A huge part of our focus at Digicel is to unearth talent across all platforms and give them a stage on which they can grow and develop to their full potential."

The second round of auditions will be hosted in Ocho Rios on Sunday at Island Village.

"The Ocho Rios audition usually gives us a wealth of talent, so we know the judges will have high expectations," Schroeter added.

She encouraged persons to be prepared come out early, with auditions starting at 8 a.m.

Following the stop in Ocho Rios, the Digicel Rising Stars auditions will journey to Tolans Esso, May Pen, on May 31 Manchester High School, Mandeville, June 7; Portmore Heart Academy, June 13 and, St Andrew, Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, June 21.
